Art for me has always been a refuge. An oasis of the mind and spirit where creating beauty is never frowned upon. A place where one can share the deepest sanctuaries of the self’s awareness. A place where the great questions can be explored. An inner ashram where sharing beauty isn’t questioned for motive or intent, as I learned that compassion can be its own noble cause. The one place where I have always felt free to express a beauty that is so difficult to share with words.

As an artist, one can start conversations that mind and ego don’t know they are ready for. One can be a Johnny Appleseed of the soul helping to spread seeds of compassion, acceptance and understanding. This is what I try to share with my art and why I have been using the forms of mandalas to place this intent within for years now. The actual purpose of a mandala is to give the mind something to focus upon when first learning to meditate or be mindful. They also map my own personal journey of healing which is why I think they resonate with people in the way that they do.

I am an artist seeking neither fame nor popularity. I am not attempting to escape my own mortality. What I am attempting to do is share harmony and a subtle balance with life in a mild but moving way. I hope that it helps others to be more mindful members of this thing we call humanity through beauty and connection - that the work I have created touches anyone in this way is a dream come true.

I have always enjoyed the quote that people don’t remember what you say but they always remember how you made them feel. Art, for me, is the purest form of that. If successful it makes us know that we aren’t alone in this journey.
